I’m pretty sure in an early post I described what I often do with these attempts at a blog. I get distracted and don’t get a chance to write for months. Here’s the thing: I know I could be writing right now. And using the time for writing seems far more effective.
Oh let’s be honest. The only reason I’m doing this right now is because WoW is in Maintenance. 😛
The little girl is awake and slightly fussy. Laura is getting ready. So let’s do this quick!
My life has changed rather radically. After getting turned down last round of interviews for the promotion at another store, a manager approached me and asked me to hold out a bit longer because things were in the works specifically for me. I told her I would, but I was out of faith.
Within about two months, I had a Genius position offered to me. I almost had to turn it down. There were complications with the scheduling demands along some some confusion as to the pay. But we managed to work together and make it work.
I’ve been doing it for a few weeks now. It’s not that big of a change from what I had been doing. The only real big changes has been the schedule and what’s coming next.
In less than two weeks, I’ll be travelling up to Cupertino, CA for a three-week training course at Apple HQ. I have mixed feelings about this. I’m excited about this chance to do something I’ve never done before. But I’m very unhappy about having to leave Laura and Caitlyn. I haven’t gone 12 hours without seeing Caitlyn since the day she was born. This will be very hard for me and while FaceTime will help, it’s not the same as holding her.
In the last few days, I’ve forced myself to start ‘training’ for NaNoWriMo. I’m doing at least 1667 words a day and forcing myself to write before I play any games. It sometimes sucks, but at least I feel I’ve earned my game time and it makes me feel a lot more productive. I’ve also found that the 250-500 words a day was pitiful, because I don’t hit my writing stride until the 700+ mark. So I’ve been selling myself short.
I’ve also been enjoying Mists of Pandaria to no end! I got to go to the official Irvine Launch Event where I was actually interviewed in the LiveStream that was broadcast around the world. I thought I came across pretty good.
If you’re interested, I’m at around 1:15:00 after the Fall of the Lich King trailer.
I have to say, this is the best WoW expansion ever. The power of the characters and storytelling is so much higher than it’s ever been.
I’ll talk more about this later. At the moment, I have a rather fussy child I need to handle.
Good luck and have fun!
And by the way, are you preparing for NaNoWriMo?
